Saul's Sight

Helping The Blind See

God Wants It All

I remember once I was having a very difficult day. Someone I had always viewed as a safe space had just said something very hurtful to me, and I didn’t know what to do about it. I went to one of my teachers who I got along with well but I had only known him for about a month. I entered his classroom crying and told him everything that happened. He shared with me his favorite Bible verses. Psalm 34:17-20: “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.”

I really liked this verse because if you examine the words it gives great comfort. It reminds us that even righteous people have problems and trials. Oftentimes I feel like Christians forget that they are allowed to struggle with things. This feeling for me only got worse as I got more involved with the church and was put in more leadership roles. I felt like I had to act like everything was fine to make Christianity seem more attractive, but in reality Christianity is hard. Even though we will have troubles though, we have the greatest comfort of knowing God will be there for us. This verse also reminds us that the Lord hears us and cares. He’s not just some distant God who is disconnected from the cries of His people. He loves us and wants to help us.

God cares about the little problems, even ones you think are too small for Him to care about. If it’s big enough to bother you, then it’s definitely big enough for God to care. Psalm 56:8 “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” He cares so much that He keeps track of every single tear. So come to Him always.
