Saul's Sight

Helping The Blind See

Historical Context

Before getting into the passages, I want to highlight some important historical context. I chose three stories to go over. The story of Legion, the demon possessed boy, and Beelzebul. The authors of the books I pulled from are Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Matthew was one of Jesus’ disciples, while Mark and John aren’t considered one of the twelve. Mark was a companion of Paul and Barnabas in their missionary journeys. Luke is the only gentile author in the Bible, and it says he was a physician. Matthew mainly wrote to a Jewish audience, while Mark and Luke wrote to a gentile audience, Mark most likely focusing on Romans. All of the passages I’m going to talk about took place during Jesus’ ministry. During this time, the Jews were being ruled over by the Romans, and they were looking forward to the Messiah to come and save them from their captivity.
