Going along with all the things I’ve already talked about, I want to touch on infant baptism. We’ve already established that baptism alone does not save someone, and although encouraged it is not necessary for salvation. So keeping that in mind, why would it make sense to baptize an infant? Looking back at the meaning of baptism it states that baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision. I don’t know about you, but I was not able to make that decision as a baby. Some argue that baptism is just another form of child dedication. I am more open to that idea, but again it’s taking away from the original purpose of baptism. There are other ways of doing child dedication that don’t take from the decision to get baptized on your own once you dedicate your life to Christ.
