The idea of speaking in tongues in the modern church has bothered me a lot in the past. I grew up in a stricter church that never really talked about speaking in tongues and definitely did not encourage it. Then when I was fifteen I started going to a new church that was assemblies of God. I attended an evening service for the first time and was shocked to find that people were prophesying and speaking in tongues. This confused me and I started my month-long journey of researching the topic of speaking in tongues.
