Next is whether or not baptism is necessary for salvation. The main verse that I hear to prove baptism is required is Mark 16:16: “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” While the Bible often groups baptism with belief, take note that the verse doesn’t say “whoever is not baptized will be condemned.” He only states belief in that part. I would also like to remind you of the man on the cross next to Jesus, and every believer who did not have the means to be baptized. Surely you do not believe they are condemned. Christ specifically says to the man on the cross that he will be with Him in Heaven. As believers we are encouraged to do many things Christ did such as baptism or communion, but that does not mean they are necessary for salvation. (Rom. 11:6)
